Hollywood star George Clooney has quietly started a new chapter of life far away from red carpets and paparazzi. The Oscar-winning actor, his wife Amal Clooney, and their eight-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, are now officially French citizens.
According to reports shared by ‘PEOPLE’, legal documents published by a French newspaper confirm that the entire Clooney family has been granted French citizenship. All four names were included in the naturalisation order, making France not just their home, but now their country too.

George Clooney, now 64, has spoken openly about his family life in Europe. In earlier interviews, he revealed that the family lives on a farm in France. This choice is interesting because Clooney once disliked farm life as a child.

Talking to ‘Esquire’, Clooney recalled his younger days spent on a farm and admitted he hated it back then. But becoming a parent changed everything. Today, he sees farm life as a gift for his children.
“They’re not stuck on their iPads,” Clooney shared. “They sit at the table with adults, eat dinner together, and even carry their own plates.” For him, these small routines add up to something big: a healthier, happier childhood.
Major reason Clooney chose France was about his concern about raising children in Hollywood. He has often spoken about the pressure, constant attention, and lack of privacy that comes with life in Los Angeles.
Clooney explained that he feared his children would never get a fair chance at a normal life if they grew up surrounded by fame. In France, things feel different. People are less impressed by celebrity status and fame does not rule daily life.
“I don’t want them worrying about paparazzi,” he said. “I don’t want them being compared to other famous kids.” For Clooney, France offers something rare: peace and anonymity.
The Clooney family owns several homes across the globe including properties in England, Italy, and Kentucky in the United States. Despite this international lifestyle, George admitted he never imagined France would become their main base.
Growing up in Kentucky, his dream was to escape farm life. Yet, life has come full circle. In February 2025 interview with The New York Times, Clooney shared that he now drives a tractor and enjoys same kind of life he once wanted to leave behind.
